How This Scam Works

  1. 1You receive an SMS or email claiming your bank account will be blocked
  2. 2The message says you must update your KYC immediately
  3. 3A link leads to a fake banking website that looks authentic
  4. 4You enter your login credentials, card details, or OTP
  5. 5Scammers use these details to drain your bank account

Red Flags to Watch For

  • Banks never send KYC links via SMS or email
  • Urgent deadline threatening account closure
  • Link URL doesn't match the bank's official website
  • Asking for full card number, CVV, or PIN

What to Do If You're a Victim

  • Visit your bank branch in person for KYC updates
  • Never click links in SMS messages from banks
  • Forward suspicious SMS to your bank's fraud number
  • File a complaint at cybercrime.gov.in
