How This Scam Works

Red Flags to Watch For

  • Unexpected pop-ups with phone numbers
  • Microsoft/Apple/Google will never call you about viruses
  • Requests to install AnyDesk, TeamViewer, or similar software
  • Demands for payment via gift cards

What to Do If You're a Victim

  • Close the browser tab or restart your computer
  • Never call numbers shown in pop-up alerts
  • Never give remote access to unsolicited callers
  • Run your own antivirus scan
